Light My Fire

It may be warming up outside, but that doesn't mean the end of the season for your fireplace. While they always add a warmth (duh) to any setting, and you can even acheive this without a flame - natural, gas, or electric. A mantle is a great opportunity to add style to your room at any whim. Using the permanence of the architectural statement the mantle provides, you can change up its look as frequently as you want. Painting it out, changing what hangs above it, adding some cheeky decor. Look again - did you see the TV screen recessed over the black fireplace? How about a message-in-a-bottle with an askew balloon pre or post celebration? Try painting out the inside of the fireplace (non working - or check with your contractor about flammability) a different colour every season!
